What This Calculator Covers
This tool has two calculation modes:
- Government Employee Pension — for Federal Government employees and employees of the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan governments.
- EOBI Pension — for private-sector employees registered with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
Both modes use the official calculation formulas explained below, and both work on desktop and mobile.
What this calculator currently estimates:
- Gross monthly pension
- Net monthly pension after commutation
- Estimated lump-sum commutation value
- Monthly medical allowance (based on the rate you enter)
- A basic family pension estimate
- EOBI old-age pension based on wage and insurable service
What this calculator does not yet calculate: gratuity, leave encashment, pension restoration after commutation, and annual pension increases. These depend on rules and notifications that change frequently, and we’ve left them out rather than risk showing you an outdated or inaccurate number.
How to Use the Government Pension Calculator
- Select “Government Employee Pension” from the tabs at the top.
- Choose your province/government and city. City is for your own record only — the pension formula is identical across every city in Pakistan; only the province/department is relevant for context.
- Select your pension type — Superannuation, Retiring/Voluntary Retirement, or Invalid/Medical Retirement.
- Enter your last drawn basic pay and any other pensionable allowances (leave as 0 if none apply).
- Enter your total qualifying service in years and months.
- Optionally enter your date of birth and retirement date — these are used only to check age-related eligibility for voluntary retirement.
- Optionally enter your monthly medical allowance if you know your department’s current rate.
- Choose a commutation percentage (0% to 35%) if you want to see a lump-sum estimate, and adjust the commutation factor if you know your official one.
- Click Calculate Pension to see your results.
How to Use the EOBI Pension Calculator
- Select “EOBI Pension (Private Sector)” from the tabs at the top.
- Choose your city (for record only — EOBI is a federal scheme and the formula is the same nationwide) and your gender (pension age is 60 for men, 55 for women).
- Enter your average monthly wage over the last 12 months of insurable employment.
- Enter your total insurable service in years.
- Click Calculate EOBI Pension to see your estimated monthly pension.
Pakistan Government Pension Formula
The formula used in this calculator is:
Gross Monthly Pension = (Basic Pay + Other Pensionable Allowances) × Qualifying Service × 7 ÷ 300
Qualifying service is capped at 30 years, even if your actual service is longer. Partial years are rounded using this rule: 1 to 6 months of extra service count as the current year, and 7 to 12 months add one additional year to your qualifying service.
Minimum pension: if the calculated gross pension comes out below approximately Rs. 10,000 per month, the calculator applies this as a floor, consistent with the government’s minimum pension threshold.
Eligibility: pension eligibility generally requires at least 10 years of qualifying service. Retiring (voluntary) pension generally requires at least 25 years of qualifying service or an age of 55 years. The calculator shows a warning if your entered details don’t meet these thresholds.
Because pension rules are updated through Finance Division and provincial Finance Department notifications, always confirm your final figure with your Accountant General / AGPR office before making financial decisions.
Commutation of Pension, Explained
Commutation lets you convert part of your monthly pension into a one-time lump-sum payment, up to a maximum of 35% of your gross pension.
The calculator estimates:
- Your commuted monthly amount (the portion given up)
- Your net monthly pension after commutation
- Your estimated lump-sum payout, calculated as: Commuted Monthly Amount × 12 × Commutation Factor
About the commutation factor: this number comes from the government’s official age-based commutation table. The calculator pre-fills a commonly cited default value (9.0563), but the exact factor depends on your age at retirement and is set by official notification. You can edit this field if you know your correct factor — otherwise, confirm it with your Accountant General / AGPR office before relying on the lump-sum estimate.
Family Pension Estimate
If you check the “Family Pension” option, the calculator estimates the pension payable to an eligible surviving family member using the same formula, based on the deceased employee’s own basic pay and qualifying service.
Important: actual family pension percentage, duration, and eligible relationships vary by department and government notification. This calculator gives a starting estimate only — please confirm exact entitlement with the pension sanctioning authority.
EOBI Pension Formula
The formula used in this calculator is:
EOBI Pension = (Average Monthly Wage × Insurable Years) ÷ 50
Minimum service: EOBI old-age pension generally requires at least 15 years of insurable employment. With less than 15 years, you may only qualify for a one-time old-age grant instead of a monthly pension — confirm this with your nearest EOBI regional office.
Minimum and maximum pension: the calculator applies the current notified minimum (approximately Rs. 11,500/month) and maximum (approximately Rs. 30,000/month) once the 15-year threshold is met. These limits are revised periodically by EOBI, so always check the latest notified figures on the official EOBI website.
Pension age: 60 years for men, 55 years for women.
